They represent Alessa's fear/hatred of children who picked on her in school. Near the end of the game, they manifest as a transparent silhouette similar to the Larval Stalkers.
They were censored in the PAL version of the game due to their child-like appearance and were replaced by Mumblers. They carry small knives, and mingle around Harry's feet and attempt to hug his legs, which causes damage. Grey Children - Faceless child-like monsters.They have the head and wings of a pterodactyl, although their faces are covered in masses of writhing worms rather than pterodactyl bodies, though, they have the bodies of human men. Night Flutter - The creature that Air Screamers transform into when the world shifts to the Otherworld.The Air Screamers were inspired by memories of an illustration found in one of Alessa's favorite books, The Lost World. They tend to linger around areas with garbage. Air Screamer - Pterodactyl-like creatures that fly close to the ground surface and travel around in packs.
